BAY CITY — A Pennsylvania man originally charged with a 10-year felony is returning to his home state, after a Bay County district judge ruled he has already served his time.
Tuesday, Bay County District Judge Timothy J. Kelly sentenced Victor M. Edwards, 21, to 210 days in jail with credit of 210 days served. Kelly also ordered Edwards to pay $400 in fines and restitution, said Edwards’ attorney, Jason P. Gower.
Edwards was originally charged with a felony count of
preparing to burn property more than $20,000 and a
misdemeanor count of domestic violence.
Earlier this month, he
pleaded guilty to the domestic violence charge and a
misdemeanor count of malicious destruction of property
more than $200 but less than $1,000, with attempted
arson count being dismissed.
“The judge was great,” Gower said. “He didn’t look at what was dismissed, he looked at what (Edwards) pleaded to. It’s a fair and just resolution to the case.”
On Nov. 17, Edwards got into a scuffle with his girlfriend at the Bay City apartment they shared. At one point, Edwards sprayed charcoal fluid in a hallway, Gower previously said.
Five months before his arrest, Edwards moved to Bay City from Manheim, Pa. Gower said his client will be moving back to his hometown.
